Unfortunately, there have been a few rainy days that have slowed progress on the ground in Lorena Village. This weather has been difficult as it pushes back our initial deadline of June 25th, and frustrating State-side as we can't do anything but wait for the rain to pass, but there is nothing we can do to stop Mother Nature! On the bright side, the rain will be good for the community and will give our hardworking crew a much deserved rest day. We are continually blown away by the determination and work ethic this community has put forth.
So far, despite the tropical storm, the swales have been connected to the community's preexisting drainage system. It's muddy work, but it will improve drainage so that the field won't flood as much and can be used even in Costa Rica's rainy season.
Our contacts Jason and Jonle have been communicating with us this past week and they are safe despite the storm. We are all ready to get things moving again once the sun comes out again.
Thanks to everyone who is following along with our progress and stay tuned for more updates! In the meantime, enjoy these pictures of the project so far.
