Hello all!
Here is a quick update on how construction has been this past week! The whole community has come out everyday to help build this soccer field. We are thrilled to see people of all ages and abilities in Lorena Village participate. We’ve attached some photos our translator took of the progress. You’ll be able to see all of our helpers, and some enthusiastic kiddos ready for a soccer field to play on!
We have daily communication with our contractors via WhatsApp with our team where we discuss logistics related to the field. After finishing the 3-4 swale, the contractors (Carlos and Carlos) moved onto the 4-1 swale. After this swale is complete, the two swales will be connected. The community also brought lunch out to everyone who has been working on this field! It looked delicious and like a well-deserved break.
We have been keeping up with Siempre Amigos to discuss ideas on how to connect the swales with the existing drainage infrastructure. It's hard work on both ends and lots of communication and zoom meetings, but we are confident that if we put our heads together, we can get it done.
All in all we are happy with the progress being made, and the community engagement has been so encouraging; it’s wonderful to see all of sweet faces of our friends in Lorena Village!
