Student Cohort 2019-20 

Vaidehi, our project manager, was born and raised in Calfionia; she's majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering and is hoping to go back to the Bay Area next year after she graduates. 

VAIDEHI DURAPHE 

Dhruv is a fourth year chemical engineering student. He grew up in India and witnessed poverty at a young age, growing his passion to give back. Fun fact: Dhruv has an identical twin brother, Dhairya!

DRUV SONI

Leila is a fourth year biomedical engineering student from Dallas, TX. She is an active member of the UT Steel Pan Ensemble, and she's most looking forward to creating a long-lasting and impactful project while also speaking Spanish with the community. 

LEILA ALLY 

Teagan is a fourth year civil engineering major pursuing a minor in Computer Science. Originally from California, she loves hiking, camping, and kickboxing. 

TEAGAN WEBB

Sylive is a fourth year civil engineering major pursuing a certificate in Business Spanish, and she spends her non-studying time guiding backpacking trips around the country. Fun fact: Sylvie also has an identical twin, Elise!

SYLVIE HIGGINS

Deianna is a third year civil engineering major, and she is also pursuing a minor in business and a certificate in humanitarian engineering. If you see Deianna, make sure to ask her about her doggo, Lun!

DEIANNA MADLAMBAYAN

Sarah, who is majoring in social work, is the team's only non-engineering member. Outside of school she is passionate about raising awareness of human trafficking.

Advisors

Dr. O'Connor is the course instructor for the team's fall class. He provides the team with general guidance and support throughout the early stages of the project. 

DR. JAMES O'CONNOR

Joanette is the main technical advisor for the project. In addition to helping develop the designs, she will be travelling with the team to Costa Rica in May. 

JOANETTE AIRD

Dr. Penshorn is Division Manager of QMD at the City of Austin Public Works. He specializes in geotechnical and environmental engineering and will be one of the team's technical advisors on the project.

Jonle is one of the NGO facilitators working with PUC Team Costa Rica and Siempre Amigos.
